The two eight-storey residential buildings on Maapallonkuja have been constructed in Olari, Espoo, on the site of a demolished low-rise commercial building. The buildings are located in the centre of Kuitinmäki on a compact infill development plot. The residents’ outdoor areas are situated on rooftop courtyards on the second floor, and access to the basement parking garage is provided by a car lift.
The buildings continue the ensemble formed by the low podium section and residential towers of the neighbouring building. The residential towers are arranged in a staggered, checkerboard-like pattern with the tower sections on the adjacent plot, preserving long sightlines from the apartments. The façade features a grid pattern typical of Olari, realised through relief-like compositions of brick tiles.
